Limit is a product of fear, bad experiences or mindset. We are constantly faced with limitations in various aspects of our life, aspects including relationships,academics,work life,spiritual life etc,and with these,if we don’t overcome limitations, we can’t progress.
A limit is a point or level beyond which something may not pass, it’s an hinderance to progress and in order to overcome limits, we need action, just thinking about it isn’t enough, neither is determination without action.
Limits can be internal or external. The internal limits we face are the ones we impose on ourselves, they are the self limiting beliefs we have picked up from the society.
They are usually in the form of “I’m not good enough!”, “I’m too young”
However, the good news is that we have control over them, while external limits are the ones we encounter outside, we don’t have control over them, they are as a result of the imperfections in this world.
What are the causes of human limitations?
As we have highlighted earlier, limits are hinderances, some which are internal (beliefs) and others which are external (economic conditions, illness, geographical restrictions, financial incapability, etc).
Without much ado, let’s dive into some of the causes of limits and ways we can overcome them.
The main cause of limitations cannot be explicitly defined, however some of the main cause of limitations, especially the self-imposed limits include;
- Wrong beliefs.
- Self-limiting thoughts.
- Low self-esteem.
Just to mention a few here, as the list is endless and we can hardly discuss them all here.
What are the ways to overcome limits?
Here is a quick shot into the ways in which we can overcome limitations;

- Find a purpose to what you are doing.

- Change the wrong negative beliefs
A belief is a strong feeling that something exists or true.There are conscious and unconscious beliefs, both impacts our lives either positively or negatively and it’s important we are careful about the things we choose to believe in.
Our beliefs influence the decisions we make,they inspire our actions,they reflect in things we do. Self-limiting beliefs are usually negative things we believe in that causes us to believe we can’t achieve something, they are product of our own fear,they are limits we should learn to overcome by rapidly improving ourselves.
What we believe in is who we are, identifying what our self-limiting beliefs are, maintaining a positive state of mind and believing that you are capable of achieving whatever it is that you put your heart to is one way you can overcome your limit.
Stop letting your fear take control of you and your decisions, start believing from today that you can achieve anything, believe that you have the capacity that you can achieve anything you want because in reality you have the capacity, you can be anything you want if you believe.
Man often becomes what he believes himself to be.If I keep saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I shall have the belief that I can do it,I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning.
- Shake of your fear
It might be fear of failing, fear of failure,you might be a shy person, someone is influenced by the opinion of others, or probably someone who lacks the courage to get started.
Hear this, people will always talk, you can’t have everyone on your side, you are unique, you own your dream and maybe only you understands it,when you learn to overcome your fears,you will gain courage needed to overcome your limits.
Pursue your dreams with passion, remember why you started, let that reason motivate you, if you are the shy type, or you lack courage, build a network of people with like-mind, build a network of people that you share same ambition, that way you will find motivation to press harder, you will gain courage and confidence to overcome your limits.

- Find a purpose to what you are doing
Without a purpose, you might just keep speculating around ,when you don’t have a purpose there can’t be an aim. In what you doing, find a purpose to it, with purpose you will find passion, the passion will drive your determination to overcome limits. If you have a strong purpose in life, you don’t have to be pushed, your passion will drive you to overcome limits.

- Don’t be afraid of failing
Albert Einstein said “Failure is success in progress”. Many people dread failure because fundamentally, we are thought failure is bad, we are criticized and punished for failing for failing when in reality it is essential to success because every failure has a lesson in it,many people don’t see the lesson, they see the negative part of it_regret.
Failure is like a spring balance, when you fall on it, it catapult you to heights greater than you were, failure makes you stronger because they are experiences and experiences are the best teachers When asked, Thomas Edison said “I have not failed, I’ve just found a thousand ways that won’t work”
- Move out of your comfort zone
Wikipedia defines comfort zone as a psychological state in which things feel familiar to a person and they are at ease and (perceive they are) in control of their environment, experiencing low levels of anxiety.
In this zone, a steady level of performance is possible, this level of performance causes people to be limited in capacity, if you want to overcome limit, you can’t do that in your comfort zone, you have to leave your comfort zone and be ready to sacrifice your time and work hard that way you can overcome limit.
If you’re ready to stop living a limit-based life, you have to decide that your dreams are more important than your temporary limits. Make the decision today to overcome limits and start existing as the most joyful, successful version of yourself possible.
